Here at Preston’s Planet, we have a strong social conscience… the desire to do good in the world, help people, save animals and planet earth are all top priorities for us. Everyone who hasn’t been living under a rock for the past decade or so knows that the environment is a hot topic right now and GOING GREEN is a big deal. There’s even a cable channel dedicated to educating us on ways we can mimimize or even reverse the negative effects we as society have on the environment. I must give an A for the day to Cooper’s dad, Stephen Myers, an engineering student who created a homemade iPhone controlled treat dispenser, in less than an hour, using a cd spindle case, ioBridge hardware, and wood scraps. Mom says it reminds her of something my grandpa would’ve helped her make in science class.  Let’s hope Stephen figures out a way to market this… congrats Cooper!

I just had to share this with folks, I stumbled upon this on a finance website, it’s attached to a “Panic” button for when all the money and finance talk becomes too much, people can calm down to some puppies. Given the current state of the money world, I suspect the panic button is being put to good use.

Calling all dogs (and cats, rabbits, fish, etc…)

Yes. We. Did.

Now, it’s time for animals to DEMAND the change we voted for!

President-elect Barack Obama is working to fill key positions in his administration, among them the Secretary of Agriculture and Secretary of the Interior. These positions have a tremendous impact on the treatment of animals and the enforcement of a broad range of laws—including those covering puppy mills, humane slaughter, animal fighting, and wildlife. It is critical that President-elect Obama appoint individuals who have a demonstrated track record of support for policies that protect animals.

Among the candidates being considered for these two positions, there are several who have taken a strong stance on animal protection. Please, ask the human in your life, to join me in urging President-elect Obama to seriously consider animal protection when appointing these positions.

Pet lovers everywhere have to appreciate this license plate I saw on the weekend in New York. Custom plates are big among people with passion, for this person that passion is obviously a pawfct pet. Has anyone else seen any pooch or pet related license plates worth a mention? Let us know in the comments below.
